IS THE GREYHOUND RIGHT FOR YOU
Greyhound? Italian
Greyhound? Great Dane? Do a little research into breeds of dogs and
find the dog best suited for you.
Still deciding if a Greyhound is the best dog for you? Doing a little research into a variety of breeds of dogs can help you find the type of dog that is best suited to you. It is important to have an honest look at your lifestyle and personality to determine what type of dog would best suit you. If you want a jogging companion, a Dalmation might suit you better, contrary to the myth the Greyhound is not an endurance dog but a sprinter and notorious couch potato. Or if you love the sleek esthetics of the Greyhound but a smaller dog would better suit your lifestyle a Whippet or even Italian Greyhound could be the better choice. if you are looking for a guard dog the Greyhound dog would not be your best choice either, they make wonderful companions and are a sensitive dog but the guarding instinct is just not their strong suit. Still want a dog similar to the Greyhound but the Italian Greyhound is too small there are other close relatives of the Greyhound like the Afghan Hound, Saluki, Whippet and Pharaoh Hound. These breeds of dogs all have slightly different characteristics but have some basic traits in common, they are hounds and live for the joy of running. Doing research on breeds of dogs is easier now than ever with the internet but there are also a number of good books that can be found in book stores and pet stores that go into this subject in depth. In the end whether you chose a Greyhound, Great Dane or Italian Greyhound you will be glad you did the research first, getting a breed that is complimentary to your personality and lifestyle will make for a much happier and harmonious life for both you and your pet dog.
